I Know I am a bit behind the eight ball with my New Year's resolutions.....
So, for todays Thursday 13.....Here are my resolutions...no random order, no order of importance....they are what they are....hope I can accomplish just one and stick to it for the entire year....here goes!
1.) Slow down...in life, and with my driving....I am always going 100 miles and hour...feels like my life is passing by in a blur...so, guess I need to "stop and smell the roses"....
2. ) Quit stressing...so what if the house is not perfectly clean....so what if I don't cook for my family every single night....take out food, chosen as nutritionally as possible, isn't going to kill em'......a little lint on the carpet isn't going to cause DSS to remove my kids from my home...lol.
3.) Plan an out of town get away at least once every few months with my hubby....every weekend we don't have children, we usually do the same old thing....I know there are more things to do, in other counties and neiboring states...get out there and explore a little bit...stay at a bed and breakfast, go to some wineries, go antiquing....all the things that help you slow down and enjoy life a little more.
4.) Take one family Vacation this summer. Start saving now....don't let another summer slip by without giving the kids a memorable vacation...if it is only to the local amusement park....stay overnight or for the weekend, in a hotel...makes it more fun for them.
5.) Be more positive...about my life, my self worth, my appearance...most of all my job...stop hating it, try to make it work for me.
6.) Try to stop running late for everything...especially work. (So far, I have done this every day since coming back to work from the holidays. Yay me!)
7.) Eat healthier....(who doesn't use this one?)...stop grabbing fast food for lunch....bring more lunches from home....stock up on lean cuisines...actually eat them...not let them accumalate in the office freezer for a year.
8.) Join a gym.....lose 20 lbs...even if it is just the YWCA....find one...where I can take the kids...stick to it....then I can wear really skinny jeans again.
9.) Stop swearing....seriously...I have a huge problem with this...especially when I am driving....I think I have probably cursed out everyone that comes in my path and gets in my way....which goes in hand with my number one resolution...I am truly a bitch behind the wheel....so...just stop it!
10.) Find a womens group to join....I seriously need to quit whining, feeling blue over having zero female friends...I want to find a couple of BFF's....I seriously need some girlfriends, ya'll....
11.) Play more with my kids....let them just be kids more...for example...in the evenings....instead of fussing at them for dragging toys out and making a mess...let them make the mess...in fact, get down on the floor and play with them...
12.) Call my Mom and Brother more...I talk to my Mom once a week....I should call her every day....even though she is 700 miles away...she won't be around forever...her health is not the best....I know if I don't start talking to her more...I will end up regretting it.
13.) Have more patience...with everything and everyone.
There you have it....at the end of the year...I will look back and post on how many of these I actually stuck to!

Dixie,
Great list. I agree about taking your kids on memorable vacations...my parents always travelled with us and I feel so lucky to have seen so many wonderful places. Those are memories that will always stay with me.
Good luck - may 2008 be healthy and prosperous for you and your family!
I rarely keep my resolutions so I don't bother to make them anymore. Good luck with your resolutions.
