American Idol..,Season 7...Atlanta Auditions

Wow..last nights Atlanta auditions were like a breath of fresh air..there was never any really horrible talent and one of Indiana's own, Amanda Overmyer...from Muncie...totally kicked it...she was awesome...but more about Amanda in a few minutes....

Last night and tonight, are the last two nights of auditions....Atlanta brought us over 12,000 hopefuls, yet.. only six made it through from last night..don't worry...we still have to get through tonight as well.

There were some good, there were some bad, but for me, there was only a couple that really were deserving.

Here is the list of Golden Tickets from Last night:
Joshua Jones
Aisah Epperson
Alex Lushington
Brook Helvie
Amanda Overmyer
Josiah Leming

Out of that list..Amanda Overmyer and Aisah Epperson....were the most talented.
But..that is just my opinion...you be the judge.

First....the Good....

We have Josh Jones, 26, Atlanta Georgia..

Josh sang "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen...he did ok, once he got passed the weird eye popping thing he did. Simon pretty much told him to stop, that it was very demonic. Yet, he kept doing it, so the judges had him turn his back to them and then sing. Josh had nice sound, but I don't believe it was good enough to keep him in this competition. I have to agree with Simon..it was "very karoke"...although Randy and Paula both gave him a yes.

Alexandria Lushington, 16, Douglasville, GA was another Golden Ticket winner....

Alex is a well loved 16 year old, because she managed to get her 93-yr old Grandmother to come to the auditions with her. Girl was very R & B in singing her own mix up of "My Funny Valentine"...she did very well, I was impressed. She had a very stoic prescence about herself; carried her self well.

Amanda Overmyer (my favorite), 22, Mulberry, IN (just a few miles from where I live)...

Amanda was hot! In a rocker chick sort of way...she is also a nurse and biker...and she totally worked the biker shot..girl looked tough!
She sang "Mean Woman" by Janis Joplin...Amanda totally had a Janis Joplin sound to her voice, but kept it uniquely her own...The judges had her sing a second song...causing Paula to dub her as the female Chris Daughtry...She was awesome...Paula said yes, Randy said a trillion percent yes and of course, Simon liked her as well. I am really looking forward to seeing what she is going to bring to us this season.

Beauty Queen, pageant winner Brooke Helvie, 18, Wellington, FL..the next yes girl..

There is no denying she is a beautiful girl...and you have to have "the look"...which she's got..but as far as voice goes, I wasn't too impressed. She kind of got on my nerves...She came across has very pagenty (is that a word?)...too many fake smiles, pageant walk and primpy attitude...I don't recall what she sang...but it must have been good enough, because the judges let her through...then she had to hug each one of them, which prompted Simon to call her annoying, after she left the audition room of course.

We go from Beauty pageant winner to homeless street urchin, living out of his car...
Josiah Leming, 18, Morristown, TN...

Josiah was kind of sad...he basically stated that he pretty much gave up on life and his family, left them a year ago and has basically been living out of his car ever since...as he is telling his plight to the judges, he gets weepy and the tears start to flow. He sang a song he wrote, called "To Run"...he had a nice sound to his voice, although it went from TN accent to British accent when he sang..Simon couldn't get past that...the judges all three give him a yes.

Final Golden ticket winner, at least the ones that had auditions that were shown, was Asiah Epperson

Not long ago, Asiah lost her Dad to a tragic car accident, just two days to her auditioning for American Idol...horrible. It was hard to watch her and not tear up..she sang "How Do I Live"..for her Dad. She was very powerful and passionate with her voice and I felt she was terrific! Randy thought she sounded brilliant and Simon felt she had a good voice...of course, Paula liked her as well...good thing she stood strong, for her Dad, and stayed for the Auditions, because she is going to Hollywood.

Well, out of those top 6, a total of 19 were chosen from Atlanta last night to go to Hollywood..

In between the good auditions, of course you have the bad...I don't have time to list them all right now...work today has totally kicked my tale! I have been working on this post off and on all freaking day....I am home now, trying to finish, as I had to leave work at 3 pm to pick up a sick child from school...he is medicated and sleeping, so I wanted to finish this post...didn't want to let you Idol lovers that depend on me down....
Seriously though..there were not any really bad ones from last night that are noteworthy...

Stay tuned tonight, as the auditions are wrapped up...."The Best of the Rest" are so they say...

Personally, I am more than ready for these auditions to end and the top 24 to be chosen

We watched...AI is big in our house...

I thought the girl whose father passed away 2 days ago...omg...that tugged at my heart strings...I hope she does well...

The pageant girl was the most annoying person I have ever seen on television...

I also enjoyed your rocker girl :)

This should be a great season.

Toni..no problem...I just wished I had gotten it posted earlier.

Bradley...I agree with you on all points....I think it is going to be exciting to see who makes the Hollywood cut.

I'm glad this part of the show is over too. I think I only watched one or two episodes.

The Hollywood cutdown segments are my favorite. I like that more than the beginning or the end. I don't know why.
