IT'S MONDAY....HOW MANY OF YOU FELT LIKE CALLING IN SICK?

Remember, as a kid, how easy it was to fake a sick day, and stay home from school, then spend all day lazing around in bed, watching t.v., etc??? How I wish I were a kid again, and could just take the day off, with no consequences, other than making up a days worth of homework. Now, as an adult, one day blends into the next, calling off of work, means you are letting down more than just your pals and teachers at school...You call off of work, you either have to use up your accumulated sick time/vacation time, or like me...you just don't get paid. Then on top of that, you get the cold shoulder when you come back to work the next day, because you let your co-workers down, then your spouse, because they feel they have to pick up the slack in the financial area, then as a Mom/parent, calling off sick, with little ones at home, means it is a mute point to do so..because we all know, Mommys aren't entitled to a "sick" day....

Those were my thoughts this morning, as I contemplated taking a sick day...let me just say, it didn't last long, once those thoughts ran through my head...so, here I am, at work....dreading the start to another week. I am tired ya'll...tired of never having a single second to myself....do any of you ever get that way? Someone is always needing something from me.....once in a while...I just want time for me....thus the thought of taking the day off. But, staying home, would not grant me time for me, as Hubby and Max are there all day, so I would spend the day giving to them, not getting the time that I so need for myself. I love my family, I hate my job....I wish I had a happy medium.....oh, well....suck it up, Dixie....another day, another dime earned, huh?

Moving on....bellyaching session, now over. I am here at work, so I have to make the best of it.

My weekend wasn't too bad. We didn't do a lot of anything, actually. Justin, my 14 year old, did not come to stay this weekend. He had a field trip to Kings Island with his eighth grade class from school on Saturday. Due to that, I didn't have to do any traveling this weekend. Friday evening, I went to take the little guys to the library, but they closed at six p.m...we were late..so, we went to McDonald's to the playland, for dinner. How gross are those playland structures? I swear, I will never take my kids back to the one in our town...it was so full of sweaty dirty kids..the entire room smelled like Body odor...kids screaming...I had enough after half an hour, packed my kids up and left. Since we didn't get to go to the library, we went to Barnes and Noble...I love going to the book store, but with the little kids..not so much...Aaron was fine...he picked out a book on the clearance rack, about Vampires, totally loves it...but Max, on the other hand, had not idea how to use his "inside" voice...I swear he snuck behind my back and made a visit over to Starbucks for an espresso...because he was bouncing off the walls! We left the bookstore, of course, I did have my coffee in hand, and made our way to Hell Mart...gotta get the groceries, you know....I was so tired, I couldn't wait to go home. I had this wise idea, if I let Max stay up a little past his bed time, he would sleep in Saturday Morning....did he? Nope....up and out of bed, waking me up, demanding blueberry pancakes and bacon, before eight a.m.....
Saturday, we did make it to the library, to the video store......the rest of the day was spent watching movies and t.v....
Sunday, I cleaned house...the usual, and in the afternoon, Aaron and I went to the movies and saw Iron Man....

It was great! I am not too much into the superhero type movies...but this was pretty darn good. I highly recommend it. I don't recall very much, if any cursing in it, and the violence wasn't too over the top. Aaron is almost nine years old, so he loved it. I left Max at home with Dad, because I wasn't too sure if he would be able to follow it. If you have kids ages eight and up, especially boys, they will love this movie...

I didn't watch Desperate Housewives last night, I was too tired, ended up watching the Water Horse with Max, until his bed time, then I went to bed. How was it? Hopefully I can catch up and watch it on ABC. com later today.

Have a great week everyone!

Dixiechick...out!

If I want to call in sick, my office makes me feel guilty when I get on the computer and start hitting blogs...sigh...the perils of working from home!

Desperate Housewives was good last night...so was Brothers and Sisters....TIVO sweetie...that way you watch it when you want!

Hugs!

My wife feels like that a lot. It helped her to let the housework go a little bit use that time to take a walk, do a sudoku puzzle, or take a nap.

She works retail so her schedule sucks. She works 3-of-4 Saturdays each month and 1-of-4 Sundays. The good/bad thing is she often gets a day off during the week. It's easier to "take time for yourself" when you don't have kids or a husband around wanting things from you.

Anyway, I'm glad you got to see Iron Man. It was great!

I'm jealous. I want to see Ironman, but I can't because my back went out again. I hope you feel better soon and you shouldn't worry about what other might think if you took a sick day. If you need it, take it.

Meg..there is always a certian amount of guilt involved...yes, I do need to get a tivo...waiting until we have to upgrade our televisions next Feb.

Sarah...I haven't watched it yet...plan to this Friday night. The Waterhorse was a cute movie.

Ajooja...yeah, I have to sometimes make myself "not clean"..but that just means less work, still no time for myself..always someone around needing/wanting something from me. Sucks your wife works retail...I have done the working weekend thing too...day off during the week, when kids are in school is nice sometimes. Iron man was awesome. The kids actually want to see it again, but they will have to wait until it comes out on dvd.

Daddio...as far as sick time goes...it's not that easy...I swear,I call off work, when I come back, they treat me like a leper...just not worth it..sigh....hope you get to see Iron Man soon and that your back gets better..dude, go to the doctor.

Toni..you ain't kidding!

Novelist...I feel like calling in every single day...guess it just shows how much I loathe my job.

Janet..that is pretty much what they expect here. Sucks.

Flat..I loved it too..yes, those airline stewardesses were hot....they had it going on.
