Last night, due to lack of funds and no desire to cook dinner (hello, it was our anniversary after all)...hubby suggested we go to Ponderosa...for dinner...now, I have posted before, that I don't particularly care for buffets...the whole germ thing and people touching every thing that I have to touch in order to eat anything...and well, to me Ponderosa is the white trash buffet of all buffets....but, reluctantly, I agreed. It was just hubby, Aaron (10 yr old) and me...so, we hopped in the car and drove the 20 or so minutes over to the adjacent town...a little town we like to call Franktucky...lol..actually, it is Frankfort, IN....(no offense to anyone in Kentucky either) as we combine the two names...any way...
We get to the restaurant and find it is packed...with nothing but Senior Citizens....as it is Senior night buffet, all you can eat, drink included for like $6.....oh, boy....now, don't get me wrong..I am not a Senior hater...I aspire to be a senior myself in oh, say....15 plus years (is it 55 now? ).....I am very respectful of my elders. Anyway, we go inside and order 2 adult buffets and one child..then my hilarious husband (who is only 47 by the way) proceeded to tell the cashier, make sure I get my senior discount...and she did..omg...it was so funny...but, I was embarrassed....hubby is not a senior and the fact that she believed him...priceless....although I did chastise hubby for the "bad example" he set for the boy...not good to lie, even to save a few bucks....
The food, to say the least...was not horrible, but it was not very good either....I ended up with a salad, lo cal dressing and then a piece of chicken and some veggies, ending it with some fruit....
10 year old, did not even come close to getting his moneys worth...so, to me...buffets are not only gross, but a waste of money. It will be a while before I let hubby convince me to go back.
10 year old had gotten his report card and is now officially a 4th grader...now, Family Video, our favorite video store, has a program that with every A a student earns, they can bring in their report card and get a free rental...so, on the way home from Franktucky...we stopped by the house, picked up his report card and headed back into Lafayette to the video store...picking up a xbox game and a movie to watch and I got to get the first disc of Season 2 of TruBlood..that show is over the top, let me tell ya! If you have not seen it, rent the first and second season as soon as possible..you will not be disappointed..it is so addicting, you can not stop watching it...
Once we got home...I relaxed with hubby for a while..then decided, since I had only run 6 miles on Tuesday, that I should not procrastinate and get a run in....besides, it was National Running day and I couldn't allow myself to sit on my ass and not run, so at 8 30 last night...I went out and pounded 4.4 miles....it felt wonderful. I was very proud of myself....came home, showered and collapsed on the couch to watch TruBlood...out of no where..I felt totally ravenous....I went into the kitchen, and here is where I could totally kick my own ass if my little legs could reach around me to do so...as I said, we are kind of low on funds until tomorrow (we have money to buy groceries, don't get me wrong, just trying to be frugal) and we had absolutely nothing really to eat in the house...I had not been to the grocery, knowing we would do our big shopping trip this weekend....so, I ended up eating a 1/2 of a bologna sandwich (on white bread-shudder)...and a handful of chips...I was so mad at myself after....I am not trying to lose any weight...I only weigh between 108 and 110.....all the time....but, I am trying to eat cleaner and healthier, even though that is not always very economical....I also had a couple glasses of pinot grigio, to ease my guilt..lol...so, today is a new day. I made a mistake, move on, move forward...yada, yada, yada...
I have done well today with my eating:
Breakfast was a Jimmy Deans lite breakfast bowl (220 calories-made with egg whites/turkey sausage), Oikos Greek Yogurt and some strawberries.
Lunch was an egg salad sandwich on wheat, a few organic chips and a handful of cherries (I love bing cherries!)
Dinner will probably be a kashi frozen meal and some steamed veggies.
I also plan on going to the gym tonight for a light run (3.6 miles) and some leg work and bi-ceps/chest along with some ab exercises.
I love Thursdays! One day away from Friday! If I don't log on the rest of the week, hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
