American Idol...Season 7....Boys night!

We have finally began the exciting part of American Idol...the actual competition.
The auditions are over...the judges have relinquished control and it is now left in our hands.
Question is...Is this years talent the best yet?
Who will be the next American Idol?
That will be determined based on a variety of different things.
~Originality, song choice and overall personality and talent.

Last night the 12 guys took to the stage and in my opinion..it was a mediocre at best.
But, what do I know?
Their first night of performing, the guys had to pick a song from the sixities to sing. I really didn't have a favorite from last nights performance, but If I had to choose someone...I would have chosen Robbie Carrico....

Now, lets review, shall we?

First up...David Hernandez.....singing "Midnight Hour" by Wilson Pickett.

My opnion....4 stars...out of 5....he kind of messed up the high note at the end...kind of fell apart.
Randy liked the gospel vibe and told him that the competition was on!
Paula said he had brilliant vocals, lovely perfect vibrato~really cool!
Simon said he did better than he thought he would. He told him to losen up a little. He loved the beginning of the song but stated that there was nothing distinctive in his voice.

Chickezie Eze....singing "I Love You More Today Than Yesterday" by Tom Jones...I think.

I wasn't at all impressed...by the song choice, his voice, his look...nada!

Randy...of course, said it was pretty good. But advised him, that when singing old, you have to make it sound/look new, make it fresh and young.
Paula felt it was a throw back to great R & B; told him it was a nice job.
Simon said it was hideous...the suit he wore was hideous, the wink he did while singing was hideous...I hated the whole performance...it was totally old fashioned and corny.
I have to agree with Simon....2 stars out of 5 from me...dude won't be around long.

Third....David Cook...singing "So Happy Together"..by the Turtles.

I felt he was off key through out the song..very amateurish...kind of like good karaoke...if there is such a thing...professionally, it was bad..dude was too over-confident.

Randys comments-"Weird when you started, but you pulled it off."
Paulas comments-"It was worthy~You rocked it!
Simons comments-"You shouted a little in the middle, it was a wierd song to choose, but you made it almost believable."

I gave him three stars out of five....

Fourth...Jason Yeager...singing Moon River....which he dedicated to his grandmother.

Randys comments-"It was a good job. Tough song...don't lose your concentration, you had a couple of pitch problems."
Paulas comments-"It was a simple song, you made it difficult."
Simons comments-"It came across too old, too cruise ship. It was neither here nor there. Middle of the road, like a dependable old dog-too old fashioned."

I totally agree with Simon...I give him three stars out of five.

Fifth...Robbie Carrico..my pick for the entire night...he sang "One" by Three Dog Night.

This dude was really very good...keep in mind though, at one time, he toured with Brittany Spears...back when she was good and was still sane, ya'll.

Randys comments-"Very nice-nice version. You moved me Baby."
Paulas comments-"You picked the perfect song. It was authentic and the vocals were in the pocket."
Simons comments-The only performance tonight the makes sense. I thought it was a good performance. I am not quite sure if you are a rock singer or a pop singer though."

Dude is definitely not a pop singer. I give him five stars out of five and thus far, he has my vote for the dudes.

Sixth...David Archuletta...singing "Shop Around" by Smokey Robinson.

I thought it was just o.k....not bad enough to be sent home...not good enough to remain all the way.

Randys comments-"It was brilliant. Very mature. I loved it dude."
Paulas comments-"It was a brave and bold song choice. It made me forget how old you are. Great job."
Simons comments-"When you've got it, you've got it! Best performance of the night."

I don't know if it was the best performance..but Simon is usually right on..so, we shall see. I give him four stars out of five.

Seventh...Danny Noriega...singing "Jailhouse Rock"...Elvis Presley.

I don't know what it is..but for some reason, this dude reminds me of Sanjaya.....anyone else see this?
This dude kind of pissed me off....I hate to see someone destroy the good artists..like Elvis Presley or The Beatles...some songs and artist..they just need to leave them the hell alone.

Randys comments-"It was kind of hot. You know how to have a good time."
Paulas comments-"It was very warm, safer song. Your voice was almost scalding and I loved all the colors of this song."
Simons comments-"It was verging on grotesque, absolutely hideous. You destroyed that Elvis Presley song."

My thoughts...so long Danny...you will be one of the first to go. I gave him two stars out of five....leave Elvis alone!

Eighth....Luke Menard...the man from my neck of the woods....um, didn't do so hot.
He sang..."Everybody's Talking At Me"...and it sucked.

He was off key throughout the entire song.

Randys comments-"It was very pitchy and sharp..the note at the end was way too high. Not great dude, not great."
Paulas comments-"Not the best song choice for you. I can tell you have great range though, like Kenny Loggins."...Paula, WTF?
Simons comments-"It was forgettable. You have to stand out and you didn't."

I give him only one star....go home Luke...quit embarrassing yourself.

Ninth...Colton Berry...singing "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis...Yikes...like I said, there are just some artists that need not be touched.

Randys comments-"Looks like you had a good time. You were really feeling it and it was pretty good."
Paulas comments-"Nice to see a different side of you, but it was not your best."
Simons comments-"It was just ok. What did I get from the performance? Nothing...so will everyone else. It was very karoke...not recording artist material.

I have to agree with Simon. I give him three stars out of five though, because it was better than the other Elvis song.

Tenth...Garret Haley....singing "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do"...

Paula told him he looked kind of like Leif Garrett..I kind of agree.

Randys comments-"Their were pitch problems. You didn't own it. Boring. Bring something new to it."
Paulas comments-" It's ok to change things up a bit. The slow tempo brought the song down."
Simons comments-" It was boring. You look terrified/haunted. It looks like you have been shut up in your bedroom for a month. You need some fresh air and you need to make yourself young."

I thought he did ok...but not good enough. I give him three stars out of five.

Eleventh...Jason Castro....singing "Daydream"....it was pretty good. He was the only contestant to use an instrument.

Randys comments-"There were some pitch problems, but I liked the accent. It was alright."
Paulas comments-"You blew me away. It was the perfect song choice for you.It was almost effortless."
Simons comments-"Your performance was one of the top 2 performances of the night. You've just got it. It was effortless and charismatic. You are lead singer material"

I have to agree...dude keeps it up, he can make it to the top three, at least.

Last....Michael Johns....singing "Light My Fire"...he did a fantastic job.

Randys comments-"It was the bomb. You totally threw all caution to the wind. It was a great way to end the night. That was hot."
Paulas comments-"You are a great part of this show, excellent way to end the night."
Simons comments-"You have the charisma of a lead singer. You are good. The most consistent contestant we have had."

It was good. I give him five stars out of five.

My top three choices are: Micahel Johns, David Hernandez and Robbie Carrico.
Going home: Danny Noriega and Chickeze Eaze.

So what do you think about last night? Who was your favorite and who do you want to see go home?

Remember tonight the girls sing and Thursday night 2 boys and 2 girls will be sent home.
I don't know how that is going to interfere with my Lost on Thursday night...but I will figure something out..so much t.v..so little time.

Dixiechick....out!

I think you are right about Chickeze, but maybe Garret or Luke instead of Danny. I agree Danny is annoying, but I think he may have pulled out another week.

I don't enjoy Danny- shudder.

Looking forward to the girls....

I'm watching my DVR of AM IDOL right now. Not impressed with any of the guys so far. Maybe the girls will be better. I guess I'm looking for another Daughtry!! I personally thought it was a bad idea to sing ELVIS!!

Braids guy was good, 2nd best of the night behind rocker bandana dude who took 1st prize in my eyes.

That "sanjaya" dude who did the Elvis tune is pretty funny - gotta keep him around for a little while, at least.

Can't wait for the chickeees tonight - if they sing half as good as they look they'll be in pretty good shape.

Oh, how I am addicted to this show. But more importantly - the Twilight books!! You darling girl, I should warn you, you may get totally consumed by these little reads. It's written so simply that you can breeze through them in no time. I can't wait to hear what you think! I LOVED them, as is obvious by my blogging. Mmm, so fantastic - keep me updated on your thoughts!

Janet...sorry you missed the guys. I hope my post helped.

Diva..yeah, it could go either way.

Toni..yeah, something about the dude...and he reminds me of Sanyaja for some reason, I couldn't stand him.

Flat..yeah, they always kill Elvis songs on this show. Hope you enjoyed the guys, looking forward to hearing which girl you like.

Monk...damn, man..we so think alike. It is scary. Ha! Bandanna dude and braids guy, my top two guys along with David....
Girls rocked out....that post coming soon.

Jewels...glad you like Idol too...come back, because I post about it and Dancing with the stars, often. As far as the Twilight series goes...I have only started the first one, almost done with it. I am loving it. Exicted to start the next one. We will be discussing this..trust me. LOL...

Nap....I know..I was so disappointed in him; I was totally rooting for him...but, unfortunately, his looks will not win it for him..he better up his game, or he is going home.
